Hi,
My name is Debbie and i just wanted you to know that i take the issue
of homelessness very seriously.
I lived it just six months ago and i know how hard it is!!!!!!!!!!
My reason was that i was fleeing domestic violence.
It was either stay with him and die or leave him.
Now i got into calgary housing because police and the shelters wrote
me letters saying i was in danger and needed a home.
So far so good,he hasn't found me yet but i still live in fear everyday.
Now i try to fight for all women who go homeless because we had
to leave all of our belongings and leave his income behind just to live.
If you really look at it he's still winning because he knows i had to
live poor now and in fear of him finding me one day.
I don't drive so i can't go to many events to fight for my rights plus
i really can't be seen much in public.
I did e-mail the mayor and he answered and i was on the news twice
with my self blacked out so i am trying to make a difference.
Please fight for my reason because so many women and kids go
homeless because of violence, people need to know it's just not
bums who drink that go homeless.
I'm a great person who cares about people,i had a good upbringing
with no violence at all,i went to school and it happened to me.
My son and i were sleeping outside just this past winter!!!!!!!!
Thank you for reading this.
Debbie
